David “Bread” Lee Sinnett, a felon with 15 years of convictions, is accused of using a hanger to severely beat a 2-year-old boy with a speech impediment on his bare buttocks and back. Sinnett is also accused of fracturing the boy’s orbital bone between his right eye and nose — all for mispronouncing his sister’s name, according to an arrest affidavit from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Dr. Blind, an ER doc at a Winter Haven hospital, said that the boy’s eye injury could result in the boy having permanent eye damage, or even losing his eye, according to the report.
Although the relationship between the boy and the 32-year-old Bartow man was not disclosed, a relative told investigators that Sinnett, a felon with 15 years of convictions, “always messes” with the boy, the affidavit stated.
The boy’s mom told investigators that after seeing her son get hit with the hanger, she walked out of the room and did not see how the boy received his facial injuries, according to the report.
Sinnett has been in the Polk County Jail on eight prior occasions. His most recent prior arrest was in 2005 for Second Degree Murder, and Attempted Second Degree Murder, and he was sentenced to five years in state prison for those crimes. He was released from prison in May 2010, according to the release.
