Siblings hit man with golf club November 30, 2011

A man contacted the Walton County Sheriff’s Office after he was waved down by a bleeding man near Girl Scout Road, reports The Northwest Florida News.

The Nov. 26 investigation revealed that the victim had been attacked that day by Mossy Head residents Joshua Drake, 29, and Willie Drake, 52.

The Drakes allegedly struck the victim in the head with a golf club after an alleged dispute with Nora Jordan, their 49-year-old sister. The incident happened at a home on West Clover Lane.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office charged the three siblings with aggravated battery, a second-degree felony.

Deputies questioned Jordan on Nov. 27 after she and her brothers provided conflicting statements.

“The investigation further revealed that Jordan allegedly provided false statements and attempted to destroy evidence,” said Mike Morrison, a spokesman for the WCSO.

Jordan was also found to be in possession of methamphetamines.

In addition to the aggravated battery charge, Jordan was charged with one count of accessory after the fact, a third-degree felony; and one count of possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony.

A 24-year-old man was arrested late last night after he kidnapped a young girl, took her to a trailer and sexually assaulted her, police say, reports The Palm Beach Post.

Francisco Lopez Calderon, of South Dorchester Drive in Greenacres, was arrested on charges of kidnapping a child under 13 years of age with the intent to commit lewd or lascivious molestation and lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim between the age of 12 and 16.

Greenacres Department of Public Safety officers went to L.C. Swain Middle School Monday morning in response to a call about a possible sexual assault, said public safety Captain Gina Abbananto.

Investigators found that a 12-year-old girl was riding her bike Nov. 24 in the Pickwick Park West development when Calderon grabbed her and brought her to a nearby trailer.

Once inside the trailer, Calderon sexually assaulted her. He then let her leave, Abbananto said.

Calderon has lived in the area for about two years and has been in the country for about six years.

The victim said she has seen Calderon in the neighborhood but did not know him.

Abbananto said he is not a suspect in any other sexual assault cases.

Man arrested videotaping kids at Fort Lauderdale beach

A Florida man is facing 100 counts of child pornography after his arrest allegedly while videotaping children showering at a Broward County beach, reports The Palm Beach Post.

Broward Sheriff’s Office investigators say 66-year-old John Field was spotted Nov. 23 by a Deerfield Beach lifeguard videotaping young girls in public showers. The girls were mostly under 5 years old.

Later authorities went to Field’s home where searches of media storage devices yielded at least 50,000 child pornography images. Most were of girls between 1 and 12 years old and some were of young boys.

Field was jailed Tuesday in lieu of $1.45 million bail. Court records show the public defender is representing him but no individual attorney is named.

Woman threw brick at speeding vehicle November 29, 2011

Authorities say a 35-year-old Valrico woman confronted a car speeding down her street Saturday night while children were outside — with a brick, reports the St. Petersburg Times.

mug_CohenAn.jpgAngela Jill Cohen punctuated a verbal argument, an arrest affidavit states, by throwing the brick into the car’s windshield.

No one was injured in the incident on Dixie Maid Lane, off E Lumsden Road, according to the affidavit.

Cohen was arrested and charged with throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle. She was being held Sunday in the Hillsborough County Jail on $7,500 bail.

Jail records list Cohen as an employee at Brandon Eye Associates. In 1996, records show, she was arrested in Valrico on a robbery charge.

Man pounded woman with rock, dragged another toward fire, over a fight about a chair

A Columbia County man angry about where a chair had been placed hit a woman in the head repeatedly with a rock and then tried to pull her sister into a smoldering fire pit, authorities said, reports The Gainesville Sun.

mug_Carlisle.jpgJohn Frank Carlisle, 34, of Lake City, was arrested by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault and two counts of battery.

Deputies said the incident happened Saturday at a home about three miles south of Lake City.

In a news release about the case, deputies said they immediately found one sister with head injuries that were apparently the result of her being hit repeatedly with a rock. Deputies identified the woman as Carlisle’s former girlfriend.

The woman’s sister told deputies that Carlisle attacked her and tried to drag her out of the house and into the fire pit.

Carlisle fought with deputies when they tried to arrest him, but was subdued and later booked into the Columbia County jail.

The sister with the head injuries was taken to an area hospital and was expected to survive.

Baby injured when mom tried to run over man

A woman tried to run a man over with her car Sunday afternoon while her 18-month-old daughter sat unrestrained in the passenger seat, according to Tampa police, reports the St. Petersburg Times.

mug_WillisTA.jpgTamika Lashaunda Willis, 29, threw the girl into the car without buckling her into a safety seat, according to an arrest report. Willis then tried repeatedly to run over the 49-year-old man, ramming the car into his house and a fence.

As she tried to hit him, the baby was thrown multiple times into the dashboard, causing a large lump on her forehead, police said. The child was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Department of Children and Families was notified.

Willis faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated child abuse, and a probation violation stemming from a 2010 aggravated battery conviction. She was held in the Hillsborough County Jail without bail.

Fake caregiver robbed man in wheelchair

Authorities say Darby Simmons walked into a 79-year-old man’s house at 9 p.m. Oct. 26 and claimed to be the man’s new caregiver, reports the St. Petersburg Times.

mug_SimmonsD.JPG Simmons knows the woman who actually cares for the man, who uses a wheelchair and lives in a community called Lullaby Gardens. The caregiver was not there that night.

Simmons told the man it was time for him to go to bed. The man said he wasn’t tired. “Don’t give me any lip,” said Simmons, 22, as he pushed the man’s wheelchair into his bedroom and shut the door, a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office report states. When the victim emerged minutes later, Simmons was gone — along with $20 from the man’s wallet, the report said. The victim’s phone had been put on top of the refrigerator, well out of his reach.

Simmons was arrested Nov. 21 on an unrelated burglary charge. On Saturday, he was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling in this case. Simmons, of Holiday, is being held at the Pasco jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
