A New Smyrna Beach woman is accused of punching a child in the face several times during an argument over a phone.
Brenda Perrigo, 45, was arrested on a child abuse charge just after 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said they were called to a disturbance at an apartment on Wayne Avenue.
The 14-year-old victim told them she and Perrigo were arguing over a phone and when she tried to leave the house, Perrigo punched her in the face, leaving marks.
Witnesses said Perrigo continued to attack the child outside the apartment, throwing her to the ground and hitting her several times.
