A man who had been “drinking alcoholic beverages heavily” and let his friend, who had also been “drinking alcoholic beverages heavily,” drive his Jeep has been arrested for felony child abuse.
On Aug. 15 an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy stopped the Jeep, which was displaying an incorrect tag. The driver failed to stop for about 150 feet, then pulled over in front of a James Lee Boulevard address and bolted from the Jeep. The deputy gave chase and used his Taser to subdue the man.
When he got back to the Jeep he was told by the passenger, 28-year-old Daniel Matthew Moses of Mossy Head, that the two had been drinking heavily and he’d let his friend drive his Jeep.
In the back seat were Moses’ two children, a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old. Neither were wearing restraints.
Moses was charged with child abuse and will report to court on Sept. 18.
